Survey

Chain survey, Plane table Survey, Compass Survey, Levelling Theodolite, Basic concepts of remote sensing, Ariel survey, image processing and pattern recognition (Field work related concepts only)

Building materials

Conventional materials- Clay products, cement, lime, mortar, timber, stone, steel, concrete, paint & varnish and New construction materials- Ply wood, particle board, FRP, MDF, Plastics, Rubber and their properties.

Construction practice

Construction of stone and brick masonry, arches & lintel, DPC, staircase, roof, doors & windows, concrete and wooden members, foundations, building maintenance & services

Building Drawing and KMBR/KPBR

Building drawing as per BIS standards and KMBR/KPBR

Concrete Technology

Properties of cement, aggregates and concrete, Testing of cement, aggregates and concrete, Concrete construction, Detailing of reinforcement as per IS code

Highway Engineering

Basics of Traffic engineering, IRC classification of roads, WBM and Bituminous Macadam road construction and maintenance, Components of bridges and culverts, classifications. Railways- Permanent way and its components

Hydrology

Water cycle, Hydrograph, peak flow, Runoff, Catchment area, water shed area

Irrigation Engineering

Duty, Delta, Crop seasons, Command area, Types of irrigation systems – Storage & Diversion systems, Head works, Canal systems, canal regulators, Cross drainage works, Fundamental components of hydro electric systems.

Estimating and costing

Estimating of buildings & other civil engineering structures and valuation.

Environmental Engineering

Water supply- Distribution of water, Water supply fittings. Sanitary Engineering- Sewerage systems and components

Foundation Engineering

Classification of soil, Loads on structures, bearing capacity of soil, Types of shallow and deep foundations

Basic Computer Applications

Computer aided drafting, Architectural desktop.
