Kerala Highway Research Institute (KHRI) is a research institute which works under the design wing of the Kerala Public Works Department (KPWD). The institute’s aim is to promote applied research and piloting studies to implement innovative ideas and technologies into practice, to strengthen human capital through training and capacity building, and to raise the quality of public construction by testing materials in accordance with ISO standards.KHRI is a “Centre of Excellence in Roads Sector” that aims to promote resilient and sustainable construction practices in the transportation sector. The centre works closely with a range of technical institutes and organisations at the national and international level to serve as a think tank and as a problem solving hub in the roads sector. KHRI houses state of the art testing facilities with more than 61 tests accredited by NABL as per ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
