The Mangalore Harbour Project was set up in the year 1962. The maritime works on the project commenced in 1968. The New Mangalore Port, the only Major Port of Karnataka was declared as the 9th Major Port on 4th May 1974 and was formally inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Smt.Indira Gandhi on 11th January 1975. The provisions of the Major Port Trust Act 1963 were applied to NMPT with effect from 1.4.1980. Since then the Port has been functioning as a centre of activities for Importers and Exporters of this region.

The  major  commodities  exported  through  the Port  are  POL  Products,  iron  ore pellets,  containerized  cargo,  etc.    The  major  commodities  imported  through  the  Port  are  POL Crude  for  MRPL,  Cement,  coal,  fertilizer,  edible  oil,  liquid  chemicals,  containerized  cargo  etc. The  Port  is  providing  all  the  facilities  for  handling  the  cargo  of  mega  Industries  like  MRPL-ONGC,OMPL,KIOCL, TOTAL GAZ,  MCF, HPCL,IOC,  UPCL, etc.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

The candidates have to appear for an online test as mentioned in Para III of the advertisement. The shortlisted candidates from online test for Class-I posts will be called for interview. List of candidates shortlisted for Interview will be made available on NMPA website. The selection will be made on the basis of overall performance in Online Examination and Interview.
The selection of shortlisted candidates for all the posts will be subject to verification of required documents as indicated in this advertisement, in original. Non submission of requisite documents by the candidate during this process will disqualify his candidature from further participation in the recruitment process. Further, in case it is found during verification that requisite documents do not meet the prescribed criteria, his candidature will not be considered any further in the recruitment process, even if found qualified in written examination. New Mangalore Port Authority reserves the right to modify the selection procedure if deemed fit.

Candidates can apply online only from 28.11.2024 (15.11.2024 for AE Civil) to 27.12.2024 and no other mode of application will be accepted.
IMPORTANT POINTS TO BE NOTED BEFORE REGISTRATION
Before applying online, candidates should-
(i) scan their :

• photograph (4.5cm × 3.5cm)
• signature (with black ink)
• left thumb impression (on white paper with black or blue ink)
• a hand written declaration (on a white paper with black ink) (text given below) ensuring that the all these scanned documents adhere to the required specifications as given in Annexure III to this Advertisement.
  (ii) Signature in CAPITAL LETTERS will NOT be accepted.
  (iii) The left thumb impression should be properly scanned and not smudged. (If a candidate is not having left thumb, he/she may use his/ her right thumb for applying.)
  (iv) The text for the hand written declaration is as follows – “I, _ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.”
  (v) The above mentioned hand written declaration has to be in the candidate’s hand writing and in English only. If it is written and uploaded by anybody else or in any other language, the application will be considered as invalid.
  (In the case of Visually Impaired candidates who cannot write may get the text of declaration typed and put their left hand thumb impression below the typed declaration and upload the document as per specifications.)
  (vi) Keep the necessary details/documents ready to make Online Payment of the requisite application fee/ intimation charges
  (vii) Have a valid personal email ID and mobile no., which should be kept active till the completion of this Recruitment Process. NMPA may send intimation to download call letters for the Examination etc. through the registered email ID. In case a candidate does not have a valid personal e-mail ID, he/she should create his/her new e-mail ID and mobile no. before applying on-line and must maintain that email account and mobile number.
