SELECTION PROCESS

Eligible candidates will have to undergo a Written Test followed by a Skill Test, as detailed below:

The selection shall be based on 2 stages:

a) First stage Computer Based Test(CBT) followed by 2nd stage Skill Test.

b) Second stage Written Test in CBT Mode: The test will include General Knowledge, English, Quantitative aptitude, Reasoning & trade/ discipline specific test. The qualifying marks for written test are 40% marks in case of General/EWS category and 30% in case of SC/ST/OBC (NCL) candidates. c) The CBT test shall consist of 120 questions. 40 questions will consist of MCQs from General Knowledge, English, Quantitative aptitude, Reasoning and rest 80 questions shall be MCQs from trade/discipline specific questions.

d) Exam duration will be of 2 hours. Each correct answer will fetch 2 marks to the candidate and for each incorrectly marked answer, 0.5 marks will be deducted from the overall score of the candidate. However, there will be no negative marking for the unanswered questions.

e) Based on the performance in the written test, candidates shall be shortlisted discipline-wise and category-wise in order of merit, based on the call ratio of 1:5 for the skill test. However, 2 stage skill test will only be of qualifying nature. The qualifying marks for skill test are 40% marks in case of General/EWS category and 30% in case of SC/ST/OBC (NCL) candidates.

f) The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks of CBT test, for those candidates who qualify in the skill test.

Online Test Series Combo – Civil

TEST CENTRES

First Stage CBT Test shall be conducted at Test Centres in Ranchi, Jharkhand and II. Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Second stage skill test shall be conducted at any of the Coal Mining Project of NTPC/ NML in Jharkhand or Odisha. The address of the venue for Stage-1 CBT test will be notified through the admit card. The details of stage-2 Skill test shall be III. intimated to the shortlisted candidates. 

HOW TO APPLY

Interested candidates should log on to our website careers.ntpc.co.in for applying. No other means/ mode of application shall be accepted. Candidates are required to possess a valid email ID. NML will not be responsible for bouncing back of any email sent to the candidates. Candidates belonging to General (UR)/EWS/OBC (NCL) category are required to pay a non- refundable application fee of Rs. 300/-. All SC/ST/XSM category/third gender/female candidates are exempted from the payment of application fees. In addition to this, PAP/ Land oustees belonging to Coal Mining Projects of NTPC or NML are also exempted from the payment of the application fees. Candidates availing age relaxation/fees exemption as PAP/Land oustees belonging to Coal Mining Projects of NTPC or NML, must upload necessary documents to support the claim of relaxation in the application portal.
