10000 Engineers to be appointed in local bodies in Kerala 

Engineers shall be appointed in public works in Kerala in local bodies which is able to get employment opportunities for around 10,000 engineers. Appointments shall be for degree, diploma and certificate holders in Civil Engineering. The government had determined to nominate Strong Waste Administration Engineers in all municipalities.

Though the engineers are employed by contractors under the guidance of the local body institutions, this cost too will be included in the estimate and used in setting the conditions for the tender procedure. They can continue in their work based on their performance.

Degree holders will be registered under Engineer-A title, diploma holders under Engineer-B and certificate holders under Engineer-C. The registration will be done online. The projects up to 5 lakhs will be appointed to Engineering C Category, between 5 to 75 lakhs to Engineering B Category and between 75 lakhs to 1.5 crores to Engineering A Category.

The registration duty is assigned to the superintendent engineers at circle offices in Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram. The registration is valid for three years. The performance and skill of the engineers will be considered for registration renewal. Raising the grade of C and B categories of engineers will be done based on their experience.

Registration from September

The registration process is expected to start from September 2022. The registration process will be getting from the websites of Local self governing department (LSGD) or Integrated Local Management System (ILMS). The preference will be given to the engineers nearer to the project area. The remuneration will be given by the contractors and this will also be included in the tender.
