Indian Engineering Service (IES)
This is the top most level exam in the field of Civil Engineering which happen every year. Any Civil Engineering graduate can appear for this exam. This is the toughest level exam in Civil Engineering Sector
Public Sector Undertaking (PSU)
This includes the government controlled firms like BPCL, HCL, IOC, ONGC, NTPC etc. the job is highly prestigious. The recruitment of these jobs happen through GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) exam. - Maharatna
The Maharatna Companies Are Those Companies That Can Raise An Investment Ceiling Of Rs. 5,000 Crore And Are Free To Decide On Investments Up To 15% Of Their Net Worth In A Project without taking any government approval. - Navaratna
The Navratna Companies Are Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) That Can Invest Up To Rs. 1000 Crore Or 15% Of Their Net Worth On A Single Project Without Seeking Approval From the Government. - Miniratna

Miniratna Category 2 Companies are those which have made profits continuously for the last three years and should have a positive net worth. How to Enter a PSU After B.Tech in Civil Engineering
1. Preparation for GATE
GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a national-level exam that assesses your understanding of undergraduate engineering subjects. Collect the GATE syllabus for Civil Engineering and study standard textbooks, reference materials, and past question papers. Depending on your preference, you can join a coaching institute or prepare on your own with a structured study plan
2. Appear for GATE
Register for the GATE exam on the official GATE website, fill in the application form, and pay the examination fee. 4. Selection Process

5. Joining the PSU

Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer jobs in government sector

The technique of measuring quantities from drawings, sketches and specification prepared by architects and engineers for the preparation of Tender/Contract documents is known as taking off. The quantities so taken are used to prepare bills of quantities which usually are in accordance with a published standard method of measurement (SMM).
