The Brahmaputra Board was set up under the Ministry of Irrigation (now renamed as Department of Water Resources, RD&GR, Ministry of Jal Shakti) by the Government of India under an Act of Parliament called ‘The Brahmaputra Board Act, 1980 (46 of 1980)’ for the planning and integrated implementation of measures for the control of floods and bank erosion in the Brahmaputra Valley and for matters connected therewith. The Board office started functioning with Headquarters at Guwahati on 11th January 1982. The board’s jurisdiction covers the entire Brahmaputra and Barak Valley, spreading in all the States of the North Eastern Region including Sikkim and part of West Bengal falling under the Brahmaputra Basin.

| Deputy Chief Engineer | Officers of the Central Government or State Government or Union Territory Administrations or State Electricity Boards or Public Sector Undertakings or Statutory Organizations or Autonomous bodies or Universities or Research Institutions: (a) (i) holding analogous post in parent cadre or department on regular basis or (i) with five years reqular service in the post Superintending Engineer in level-12 (Rs.78,800 – 2,09,200/-) in pay matrix rendered after appointment thereto on regular basis in parent cadre or department; and (b) Desirable- five years experience in Water Resources Project. |
| Superintending Engineer (Civil) | Officers of the Central Government or State Government or Union Territory Administrations or State Electricity Boards or Public Sector Undertakings or Statutory Organisation or Autonomous Bodies or Universities or recognized Research Institutions: (a) (1) holding analogous post in parent cadre or department on regular basis; or (ii) with five years regular service in the post of Executive Engineer in level-11 (Rs.67,700 – 2,08,700/-) in pay matrix in their parent cadre or department; and (b) Desirable- five years experience in Water Resources Project. |

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
The number of posts mentioned above in each case may likely to vary. The selected officers/ will be appointed on a deputation basis initially for a period of 3 (three) years, which can be extended further in the interest of work and depending on the meritorious service rendered by the officer. Brahmaputra Board has adopted the facilities conveyed by the Ministry of Finance vide OM No. 11(b)2008-E-II(B) dt. 02.04.2013 and amended from time to time for the employees on deputation. The place of posting will be against the vacancies in the respective grade on Brahmaputra Board.
